Mayor-elect Eric Adams has appointed three members of the CUNY SPH community to his transition team. Dean Ayman El-Mohandes will serve on the health committee, and Associate Professor Nevin Cohen and CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute Deputy Director Craig Willingham will serve on the food policy committee.

“A food policy transition team is a first for an incoming mayor and illustrates Mayor-elect Adams’ emphasis on a more just, healthy, resilient, ‘plant-forward’ food system,” Dr. Cohen says. “We have a unique opportunity to help the incoming administration prioritize food policies and programs that support the city’s pandemic recovery and advance food security, economic resilience, and health.”

CUNY Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez will serve as co-chair of Adams’ transition team.

“Over the coming weeks, my transition team will turn my policy goals into actionable plans, recruit and vet talented candidates for senior positions, and absorb input from thought leaders, experts and everyday New Yorkers,” Adams said in a statement.
