POSITION: Communications Specialist Consultant (part-time)
ORGANIZATION: African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC)

About AATCLC:

Formed in 2008, the mission of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) is to inform and influence the direction of commercial tobacco control as it affects the lives of African American and African Immigrant communities. The AATCLC works at the intersection of social injustice and public health policy. Working with health jurisdictions, elected officials, community-based organizations, tobacco researchers, activists and the media, the AATCLC has played a key role in elevating the once obscure issue of regulating the sale of menthol and flavored tobacco products to one of national concern and action. 

About the Position:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing the communications plan for the AATCLC. The Communications Specialist is responsible for drafting press releases, responding to breaking news/events in real time,  maintaining media contact lists, developing and distributing an email newsletter, and maintaining an effective social media/web presence. 

Salary:  This is a non-benefited, part-time consultant position. Pay rate is $40/hour minimum, but we are very open to negotiation above this based on skills and experience.

POSITION: Community Impact & Analyst Manager

Position Summary:

The Community Impact & Analyst Manager is responsible for working in partnership with Program Managers, the Director of Supportive Housing Services and the Senior Director of Tenant Services + Community Service to ensure compliance with all regulatory, lender, and contractual agreements related to delivering high quality services in housing. Key Responsibilities: 

Policies and Procedures: 

  • Assists Program Managers and/or the Director of Tenant Services in developing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Revise policy and procedures manuals in partnership with program managers and the associated director of supportive housing services.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • National, State and local Health Care policy analyst.
  • Analyze strategies associated with health and housing financing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, or related field and 5 years demonstrate experience related to contract management and compliance in Social Services may substitute for a Master’s Degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including: Word, Excel, and Access.
  • 2-3 years experience with contract management and/ or regulatory compliance oversight.
  • 2 years experience providing direct services to low-income individuals’ children and families, and/or seniors.
  • Knowledge of current funding resources: city, state and federal funding for services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual: Spanish/English and/or Cantonese/English.

POSITION: Senior Coordinator of HIV Prevention Education
ORGANIZATION: HealthHIV

The Senior Coordinator of HIV Prevention Education will support HealthHIV’s National HIV E-learning Training Center to provide online education and training for state and local health departments, community-based organizations, health centers, and other health service organizations providing HIV prevention and care services. 

HealthHIV’s E-learning products are designed to improve the programmatic, clinical, and administrative capacity of the public health workforce. The Senior Coordinator of HIV Prevention Education will support the development of educational materials and implementation of online educational products to improve the knowledge, skills, and competencies of learners. They also will assist with the facilitation of state-of-the-science education and training for a variety of providers (clinical, case managers, navigators, other front-line providers), conduct needs assessments, and facilitate productive client partnerships. Specialization in health equity, racial and ethnic minority health, and LGBTQ health is strongly desired.

The Senior Coordinator additionally will support needs assessment, data collection, and research activities to ensure timeliness, relevance, and accuracy of HIV prevention and care content. The successful candidate will help summarize and interpret data and information from research, news releases, white papers, local and national guidelines, and surveillance reports. 

Requirements 

BA or BS in public health, behavioral health, health administration or a related field required. Minimum of three (3) years related work experience combined with the ability to demonstrate the needed skills and abilities for this position. The applicant will have experience coordinating, developing, designing, writing, or editing education and training activities. Interest and ability to visualize and create graphics of key information is desired. Strong competencies in the field of HIV prevention and care, sexual and behavioral health, and implementation of public health interventions is desired. It is recommended that the applicant have knowledge and skills to support education and training in the areas of HIV prevention and care strategies; sexual health; and/or viral hepatitis. Knowledge of HIV testing and PrEP are strongly desired. Applicants should have experience implementing online education and/or training programs.

This full-time position is based at HealthHIV’s Washington, DC office. Remote work from outside of the DC area may be considered.

POSITION: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

POSITION DETAILS:

Brooklyn College invites applications for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager in the Office of Environmental Health & Safety. Under the general direction of the Director, the EHS Manager will have broad latitude in managing all areas of laboratory health and safety, including hazard assessments, health and safety technical services, and waste management in support of the College’s research, teaching, or service activities. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, The Environmental Health and Safety Manger’s duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee lab safety inspections and recommend appropriate corrective action. Conduct routine checks including but not limited to: fire safety surveys, ventilation systems evaluations, air monitoring and safety equipment audits in support of lab operations.
  • Manage the campus-wide chemical inventory program. Develop training and educational materials and conduct training for faculty, staff and researchers on variety of EHS topics, including regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, RCRA, FDNY).
  • Coordinate and oversee handling, storage and disposal of hazardous waste, including chemical radioactive, and infectious materials. Plan and implement a hazardous waste minimization program. Identify, collect and consolidate hazardous, non-hazardous, and regulated medical waste.
  • Administrate on biosafety, research animal safety, and radiation safety programs. Participate on institutional committees and coordinate periodic surveys. Maintain all required records.
  • Serve as departmental representative with Fire Department and other regulatory bodies, as required, during on-site compliance inspections and regulatory reporting. Represent the Director of EHS at on- or off-campus meetings as required.
  • Serve as an Emergency Coordinator for the campus contingency plan. Respond to hazardous materials incidents and implement necessary spill control measures and decontamination procedures using Level C chemical protective clothing as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date training and education, including licenses & permits, specific to responsibilities. Keep abreast of EHS regulatory issues and technologies; Recommend the use of new technology as appropriate to meet changing requirements and to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver related EHS training for campus community; students, faculty and staff.
  • Work flexible hours including evening or weekend, including responding to emergencies, as necessary.
  • Supervises EHS staff and student workers as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree and six years’ related experience required.

A Master’s Degree in industrial hygiene or related field, or designation as Professional Engineer or Certified Industrial Hygienist are preferred.

  • Current Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of the technical specialty, applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines related to area of expertise.
  • Proven ability to quickly assess situations through demonstrated problem-solving skills and knowledge of technology related to EHS discipline.
  • Supervisory experience highly desirable.
  • Computer skills commensurate with job responsibilities (e.g., spreadsheet development, word-processing).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with individuals of all professional levels.

POSITION: Director of the Gun Violence Policy Lab
ORGANIZATION: Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP) at Tulane University

Summary of Position:

The Director of the Policy Lab will be responsible for creating an evaluation framework and leading all evaluation and data analysis activities related to gun violence prevention. This includes:

  • Creation of an evaluation framework for analyzing gun violence trends in New Orleans and assessing the efficacy of prevention related activities across the city
  • Identifying helpful secondary sources of data for analysis
  • Setting up internal data collection systems and methods
  • Offering regular analysis and reports that will guide the direction of public health resources and interventions city-wide
  • Creating reports every 6-months for public consumption on trends and the effectiveness of interventions
  • Creating a risk assessment to allow us to prioritize who is most in need of resources
  • Acting as an integral member of both the City’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP) and the Violence Prevention Institute at Tulane’s teams
  • Overseeing the work of a data analyst dedicated analyses for the project
  • Interfacing with stakeholders like the New Orleans City Council, nonprofit partners, and funders

Additionally, the Director must create the data infrastructure to support the OGVP’s team as they:

  • Respond to gunshot victims at UMC Hospital to perform needs assessments
  • Participate in daily huddles to assess needs and coordinate services
  • Complete required documentation and paperwork, including biopsychosocial assessments and treatment
  • Provide services to clients and their families
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners

Qualifications of the Director:

  • Masters in epidemiology, demography, economics, sociology, or a related field; PhD preferred.
    At least 5 years of experience with social science research and evaluation work
  • Significant experience with creating evaluation frameworks, designing data collection tools, and advanced data analysis
  • Fluency in SAS, STATA, and/or R
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, pay attention to details, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a desire to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and staff.

POSITION: Entry-Level Safety Representative
ORGANIZATION: Hawkeye Elecnor

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for organizing, coordinating and maintaining the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities, including training and compliance, for the Gas Operations Division. This position receives direction from the Safety Manager and assumes a team member role with other Safety personnel within the company. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and promote a culture that delivers safe workers and a safe workplace.
  • Implement incident prevention activities as directed or needed.
  • Assist with record keeping of employees safety-related training certifications.
  • Assist with developing PowerPoint presentations for safety-related presentations and training.
  • Assist in injury/illness case management.  Avoid injuries becoming OSHA recordable.  Make internal and external customer service a top priority.
  • Assist Operating area management in executing safety responsibilities and in making safety efforts successful.
  • Will be trained to inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations.
  • Provide positive, proactive leadership by example.
  • Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods.
  • Work with Operating area management team to integrate HSE into daily work procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager and Safety Director. 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of OSHA and DOT laws and regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.  Must be able to meet the Company’s driving standards.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours/weekends when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to be hands-on, comfortable speaking to groups.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Willing to travel with company provided vehicle within various boroughs in NY.
