POSITION: Part-time College Assistant

General Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of Admissions seeks a part-time College Assistant to provide clerical and customer support. The College Assistant reports to the Director of Admissions and will be responsible for:
- Representing the school at recruitment events
- Meeting with prospective students to answer questions about the application process and the school
- Answering/transferring incoming calls
- Providing assistance to Admissions Office staff
- General office duties including photocopying, responding to inquiries, updating and maintaining recruitment materials
- Assisting in setting up and organizing events
Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year. Must be willing to work evenings. No weekend commitment required.
Qualification Requirements
Current CUNY SPH graduate student in an MPH or MS program. Excellent customer service, professional attitude and appearance. The selected individual will be a “student ambassador” who must be knowledgeable about the School’s programs and curriculum. Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task with strong communication skills. The candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Office.

POSITION: UCSF Postdoctoral Fellowship in AIDS Prevention Studies
ORGANIZATION: The Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) in the UCSF Division of Prevention Science
The Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) in the UCSF Division of Prevention Science is accepting applications for 2- to 3-year postdoctoral fellowships in AIDS prevention research.
The Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies (TAPS) Program is a multi-disciplinary NIMH-sponsored postdoctoral training program designed for social and behavioral scientists, physicians, and epidemiologists with a demonstrated interest in HIV/AIDS research.
To be eligible, persons applying must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Scholars who contribute diversity to the field of health research are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants without a Master’s in Public Health degree or its equivalent in training/experience will obtain an MPH in Epidemiology at UC Berkeley at the beginning of the three-year program. Those already holding an MPH may complete the program in two years. Stipend range follows the NIH scale and is supplemented per the current UCSF postdoctoral union agreement with UAW .

ORGANIZATION: The Cancer Population Science (CPaS) program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (GLCCC) i
The Cancer Population Science (CPaS) program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (GLCCC) is a T32 training program supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The CPaS program focuses on preparing trainees for independent research careers with a focus on translating basic and clinical advances into the clinic, community and policy. Translational research training is grounded in core competencies of team science, utilization of novel methods and technologies, applying multilevel approaches, knowledge integration to inform polices and care, and addressing health disparities.
The training and structure of the CPaS Program is guided by Khoury’s translational framework, impacting cancer outcomes across the translational continuum (T0-T4). In addition to a grounding in cancer biology and domain-specific expertise, our program provides training in several core competencies needed to drive high-impact research across this continuum. These include integrating novel technologies and methods, applying multilevel approaches, using knowledge integration to inform policies and care, and addressing health disparities–all using a team science approach.
Training faculty have a wide breadth of domain-specific expertise with funded research programs in behavioral science, health disparities, epidemiology, simulation modeling, cancer and aging, health services, health policy, cost-effectiveness analysis, simulation modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis and survivorship.
Applicants should have a PhD, MD, ScD, or DrPH in psychology, public health, health services, or other related field. Experience with statistical programs such as Stata, R, SAS, SPSS and demonstrated writing and communication skills are highly desirable. POSITION: Special Projects Fund Intern (Graduate Level)

NYSHealth Background:
The New York State Health Foundation is a private foundation dedicated to improving the health of all New Yorkers, especially the most vulnerable. NYSHealth began operations in 2006; today, it has approximately $350 million in assets, as well as a $15 million annual grants and operations budget.
The Foundation is committed to making grants, but also to making a difference beyond grant dollars: informing health care policy and practice; spreading effective programs to improve the health system; serving as a convener of health leaders across the State; and providing technical assistance to grantees and partners. Today, the Foundation concentrates its initiatives in two strategic priority areas: Empowering Health Care Consumers and Healthy Food, Healthy Lives. NYSHealth also engages in responsive grantmaking through a Special Projects Fund (SPF) and maintains a special interest in veterans’ health.
SPF is a $3 million annual funding opportunity that allows NYSHealth to respond to opportunities that fit the organization’s mission, but fall outside the Foundation’s two priority areas. SPF also serves as an opportunity to be responsive to the changing health care environment, especially to innovative ideas that emerge from the health field. SPF is reserved for coordinated interventions that advance NYSHealth’s broad mission and have promise to measurably improve New Yorkers’ health.
Position Summary:
The Special Projects Fund intern will work closely with the Special Projects Fund program officer and program assistant. This position is ideal for graduate-level students who are interested in learning about public health interventions and the development of health programs. In addition, this position will expose students to the field of health care philanthropy.
This is a part-time position (15–18 hours per week). The hourly compensation rate is $18. The work schedule is flexible.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities are as follows:
- Facilitate and coordinate letters of inquiry for internal staff review on a weekly basis;
- Work with the Grants Management Department to facilitate the submission of full proposals from potential applicants;
- Plan and coordinate proposal review meetings with NYSHealth staff and external reviewers;
- Participate in the review and recommendation of projects for Board approval;
- Respond to inquiries from potential applicants;
- Assist with monitoring and managing grants portfolio;
- Assist with organizing meetings and other events;
- Conduct research on New York-focused and national health care issues, as well as subjects of particular interest to the Foundation; and
- Perform limited administrative work.
Qualifications:
The prospective intern should be a graduate-level student pursuing a degree in public health, health policy, or a related field. This position is ideal for students who are interested in learning about health care philanthropy, public health interventions, and management of health programs. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to NYSHealth’s mission and should possess excellent writing, research, communication, and database management skills. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to multitask and to work both cooperatively and autonomously under tight deadlines. Experience in public health and health policy is preferred. About the Organization:
National Advocates for Pregnant Women (NAPW) seeks to protect the rights and human dignity of all women, particularly pregnant and parenting women and those who are most vulnerable, including low income women, women of color, and drug-using women. NAPW works to ensure that: women do not lose their constitutional and human rights as a result of pregnancy; that addiction and other health and welfare problems they face during pregnancy are addressed as health issues, not as crimes; that families are not needlessly separated based on medical misinformation; and that pregnant and parenting women have access to a full range of reproductive health services, as well as non-punitive drug treatment services. NAPW uses the lessons learned from the experiences of these women to find more effective ways of advancing reproductive and human rights for all women and families.
Our work encompasses litigation, litigation support, and legal advocacy; local and national organizing; and public policy development, public education, and outreach. Two principles guide all NAPW activities: (1) to build bridges and align agendas across diverse public health and social justice movements, and (2) to leverage and connect local organizing and activism with national advocacy and policy work.
To that end, NAPW is actively involved in ongoing court challenges to punitive reproductive health and drug policies and provides litigation support in cases across the country. NAPW engages in local and national organizing and public education efforts among the diverse communities that are stakeholders in these issues, including the women and families directly affected by punitive policies, as well as public health and policy leaders.
About Intern Positions
NAPW seeks talented and highly motivated interns to assist in NAPW’s substantive and administrative work. Program internships are positions for individuals who are not in law school and are suitable for undergraduate or graduate students. NAPW is committed to ensuring that interns have a significant and valuable learning experience, including participation in staff meetings and organizational events to the fullest extent possible.
Interns bring a wide variety of skills and interests. NAPW works to match specific projects and work activities to interns’ areas of expertise and interest. Interns may conduct research for ongoing litigation, monitor cases and new laws across the country, or assist with such tasks as following up with counsel and activists on particular cases. Interns may help with a wide variety of organizing activities including identifying individual experts and organizations that may want to participate as amici curiae in cases, coordinating public education or action events, or attending such events on behalf of NAPW. Interns may also work on public education projects including updating Facebook and other social media outlets, helping clients and activists tell their own stories, drafting commentaries, designing PowerPoint or YouTube presentations, or helping to document human rights violations around the country. Interns with particular interest in non-profit administration and fundraising will have opportunities to work on projects in these areas as well.
Qualifications:
- Interest in women’s civil and human rights, reproductive justice, and drug policy and criminal justice reform;
- Commitment to collaborative, cross-cultural work and the ability to work well with people in diverse settings; and
- Strong writing, communication, and computer skills are a plus
Internships are generally unpaid. NAPW encourages interns who are students to seek course credit for their work at NAPW. Internships at NAPW may also help students fulfill academic requirements.
