Welcome Lauren Fowler, Academic Advising Coordinator

The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy is excited to welcome Lauren Fowler, our new Academic Advising Coordinator.

Lauren is a higher education professional with more than seven years of progressive experience in professional student advisory, counseling and academic development roles. Formerly, Lauren was the lead Academic counselor for 10 Health Profession programs at Bergen Community College. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She has also earned two Master of Arts degrees. The first at Teacher’s College Columbia University in Developmental Psychology. The second at Montclair State University in Counseling with a concentration in School Counseling.

She is motivated by her passion to continue to provide access to higher education for all students, while promoting educational equity and diversity inclusion. She is excited to continue to academically advise graduate students in the Academic Advising Coordinator position and eager to meet her fellow colleagues. Lauren truly believes that CUNY SPH exemplifies diversity inclusion and a holistic approach to advisement. Outside of her professional pursuits she has coached track and field for five years at the high school level and is an avid runner. She has completed three half marathons, the two most memorable were the Brooklyn Half and the NYRR NYC half. ​

As the Academic Advising Coordinator Lauren will utilize a holistic approach to academically advise students both in person and remotely on degree requirements and academic policies. She will work with students to form academic plans to ensure appropriate degree progression and completion. In addition to these duties Lauren also provides information to students regarding student support services, college policies and guidelines. She will also participate in new student orientations and assist in college -wide and CUNY -wide activities.
