Career Services welcomes two new team members

Apr. 7, 2021

CUNY SPH Career Services is excited to introduce you to two new staff members.

First, we welcome Candace Lamb, who will be with us for the next two years taking on the exciting task of launching the new Career Skills Academy. The CUNY SPH Foundation received a $250,000 grant from BNY Mellon to launch an enhanced career services initiative which will provide aspiring public health professionals with the skills needed to secure employment and thrive in the workplace. This grant represents the third largest gift in the CUNY SPH Foundation’s history.

Candace Lamb, Program Director, Career Skills Academy

Candace Lamb

Originally from South Carolina, Candace received a B.A. in Non-Profit Administration and Psychology from USC-Upstate and a M.Ed. in College Student Personnel from the University of Louisville. For several years, Candace was an Assistant Director of Career Services at the University of Louisville, specializing in diverse student populations, such as LGBTQ+ students and students with disabilities, engineering majors, and first generation college students. Candace also created Career Peers, a grant funded peer mentoring and advocacy program for first generation and low income college students, which was awarded an Ideas to Action grant in 2016. Candace is currently finishing a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. During this time, Candace has studied graduate student socialization in the LGBTQ+ community and the experiences of marginalized staff members in student affairs. In her free time, Candace enjoys trying out new things, such as kayaking and improv courses, traveling, and spending time with her family, including her Great Dane, Page. A first generation college student herself, Candace is incredibly excited to be joining the CUNY SPH team for this new initiative.

Next we welcome Jasmine Olivera who will be with us through August supporting the Office of Experiential Learning, Career Services, and Alumni Relations as a leave substitute.
