POSITION: Public Health Internship Program and Global Health Disparities Research Training Program

The main purpose of these internship programs is to provide students from diverse fields of public health, medicine and science with the opportunity to collaborate and be a part of research programs with experienced mentors.

POSITION: NYS ACHE Scholars Program

ORGANIZATION: Bronx Westchester Area Health Education Center 

The NYS AHEC Scholars Program is a two-year, interdisciplinary program with a defined set of clinical, didactic, and community-based training activities. All experiential or clinical training will be conducted in rural and/or medically disadvantaged settings throughout New York State. Utilizing a hybrid model of in-person experiences and online modules participants will gain in-depth training on topics designed to augment patient care, such as cultural competency, social determinants of health, practice transformation, behavioral health integration, and interprofessional care coordination. The overarching goal of the AHEC Scholars Program is for students to gain a valuable understanding about the numerous social and cultural factors that influence an individual’s overall health and their ability to access quality care. By exposing students to social, financial, and cultural issues of care, this program aims to support the development of future healthcare professionals who are able to provide high-quality, patient-centric care to all members of their community.

POSITION: Student Champions for Climate Justice Awards: Creating a Virtual Academic Community Experience

ORGANIZATION: APHA Center for Climate, Health and Equity 

Many students have been outspoken in demanding climate justice training, and the APHA Center for Climate, Health and Equity hears you. That’s why the Center is proud to offer, for a second year, an opportunity for students to galvanize action on climate justice within and across academic communities.

The Center will award up to five college or university student groups with $500 each to create a Virtual Academic Community Experience during National Public Health Week (April 5-11, 2021). While the COVID-19 pandemic is keeping us physically apart, these Virtual Academic Community Experiences will spark an important dialogue on the connections between climate change and health inequities and inspire action.

Sustaining Technical and Analytic Resources (STAR) is a project of the Public Health Institute (PHI) in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). STAR is a Global Health talent hub. Through fellowships, internships, and strategic partnerships, STAR supports building the capacity of diverse global health professionals and organizations at all levels to make inclusive, collaborative, and innovative contributions to global health. STAR participants collaborate in the development of systems and tools that strengthen and sustain the local and global health response.
