POSITION: Intern
ORGANIZATION: Montefiore School Health Program (MSHP)
Description:
The mission of the Montefiore School Health Program is to achieve health and well-being for all Bronx public school students through access to high quality comprehensive primary and preventive health services, regardless of one’s ability to pay. MSHP currently operates school-based health centers (SBHCs) in 31 Bronx academic campuses that serve 95 schools. The interdisciplinary service delivery includes medical, mental health, dental, and vision services. Coupled with clinical services is the MSHP Community Health Division (CHD) that provides health education programming designed to educate, empower, and support students, parents, and families to develop healthy habits by fostering behaviors that promote their overall health and wellness.
The CHD staff works in partnership with the New York City Department of Education and community-based organizations to coordinate a broad range of youth-focused disease prevention programs, research initiatives, and youth development interventions. CHD also utilizes digital technology (Now Pow) to provide referral and navigation for social support services to MSHP households affected by social determinants of health (issues that impact someone’s overall health). CHD services are delivered by a talented and dedicated team of public health professionals that include community health managers (CHMs), community health organizers, and outreach representatives.

(5) Supporting the MSHP Advisory Council by conducting reminder calls, creating presentations, and taking meeting minutes
(6) Basic data analysis (i.e., frequencies, means) of CHD field metrics
