Dr. Franklin Mirer, professor in the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH) department of Environmental, Occupational, and Geospatial Health Sciences, has published a commentary on the insecticide chlorpyrifos in the December issue of the Synergist, a publication of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).

In March of 2017, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt overrode EPA scientists’ decision to ban the use of the organophosphate chlorpyrifos on crops. The ban was based on studies showing developmental effects on children of mothers exposed. Dr. Mirer’s commentary summarizes the scientific basis of the proposed ban.
