Half of U.S. parents may not vaccinate their youngest child against COVID

This webinar presentation will provide an overview of the COVID-19 epidemic in US and NYC children, information about the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine trials, and will include a discussion about parental acceptability of COVID-19 vaccination for children based on results from national and NYC surveys conducted by CUNY SPH investigators.

The presentation objectives are:

  1. Present an overview of the COVID-19 epidemic in children nationally and in NYC
  2. Provide information about the COVID-19 vaccine and trials in pediatric populations
  3. Describe and discuss results from the CUNY SPH surveys of US and NYC parents on vaccine acceptability and reasons for hesitancy

About the presenters:

Dr. Chloe Teasdale is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at CUNY SPH. She is an infectious disease epidemiologist whose work focuses on the health of children, adolescents and pregnant women.

Dr. Madhura Rane is trained in infectious disease epidemiology. Her primary interest is in the epidemiology and transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases and application of statistical methods to evaluate protective effects of vaccines at the individual and population level. Other areas of interest include modeling of fine-scale spatio-temporal dynamics of infectious diseases.
