POSITION: Project Director
ORGANIZATION: University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
Job Summary
The Project Director position will conduct project management for a randomized controlled trial about provision of guaranteed basic income (GBI) and additional financial supports for low-income Black youth that will take place in San Francisco and Oakland. Envisioning a more equitable and healthy future requires bold interventions to address poverty, racism, the chronic stress built from poverty and racism, and its fundamental impact on health. GBI represents not only an opportunity to provide for basic needs while youth finish schooling or training programs and set a course for establishing a career at a critical time in development. Thus, we aim to determine what GBI can do to address financial, mental health and physical health disparities as well as examine catalyzing potential of youth support groups, financial coaching, and community response that can be paired with the GBI opportunity. Specifically, this trial will evaluate the impacts of GBI and GBI + financial coaching and peer learning circles on participants’ investment in their future (education, employment training), mental health (depressive symptoms and anxiety), and unmet mental health and sexual/reproductive health service needs.
The Project Director will apply their extensive knowledge as a research professional to usher the five-year trial from early development to conclusion. This position will prepare data collection tools, standard operating procedures, and assist with intervention manuals prior to project start-up. This position will conduct training of the data collection team, provide oversight and supervision to study interviewers, work with the data manager to monitor data quality and quality assurance activities, and will help convene the project’s community working group. This position will work closely with the study investigators and the community-based partner to prepare presentations for local and regional dissemination, assist with data interpretation and writing, compiling reports for the investigators and donor organizations, and maintaining ethics submissions, reporting, and renewals.
