POSITION: Become a Social Change Fellow! (Early Career Cohort, 2021-22)
ORGANIZATION: Leadership Center for Democracy and Social Justice, City College of New York / CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies
Apply here by Friday, September 10, 2021.
The challenges of our times – from racial justice to climate change, economic inequality to health equity, gender justice to LGBTQ+ rights – can only be met by a new cadre of strong, diverse, connected leaders who are capable of developing imaginative, scalable solutions to achieve social justice.
We are pleased to launch a new fellowship program in Fall 2021 to support and train them: Social Change Fellows, a program of the new Leadership Center for Democracy and Social Justice.
Social Change Fellows is for social justice-minded activists and organizers with interest in a wide variety of issues. The program will provide special training, support, mentoring, and career services. The inaugural cohort of the Social Change Fellows—twenty people—will meet for four intensive weekend programs during the 2021-22 academic year, and be supported with paid internships in Summer 2022 with national and local social justice organizations.
The weekend programs will include opportunities to learn from seasoned national leaders in movements for social change about everything from strategy and power to the history of social movements. Participants will receive $2,000 ($1,000/semester) during the academic year for the completion of the weekend workshops plus $5,000 stipends during the summer, while in internships.
