CUNY SPH and Hunter College Helps Take a Bite Into Food Day

Throughout the day, Nutrition Club volunteers distributed over 1,200 apples donated by Red Jacket Orchards, a local New York-based farm. Apples were distributed directly to local East Harlem community members, and to students in the “I Have A Dream Foundation” after-school program at PS7, along with information on the health benefits of the fruit. Through these efforts, the Nutrition Club was able to spread awareness about Food Day, a nationwide celebration and movement for healthy, affordable and sustainable food to the Silberman and larger East Harlem communities.
