Dr. Sergio Costa holds a PhD in political science from Boston University and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska.
He teaches courses in social behavioral health and policy. His publications, research expertise and interests include the intersectionality of politics and health, education, and social and political determinants of health. Dr. Costa specializes in program building with innovative learning modalities. From 2000-2009, he worked for Pearson Education overseeing the operations of a nationwide tutoring service. From 2010-2014, Dr. Costa was Director of Distance Learning at the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Public Health in Omaha, Nebraska. He was an affiliate of the Center for Global Health and Development and is a former library trustee. Dr. Costa is originally from Massachusetts and speaks Portuguese.
