The Center for Innovation in Mental Health (CIMH) at CUNY SPH recently participated in the Global Mental Health Advocacy Forum 2026, held in Iloilo City, Philippines. As the world’s largest gathering of mental health civil society, the forum convened advocates from over 130 countries, centering grassroots perspectives and lived experience in shaping the global mental health agenda.

CIMH Director Victoria Ngo, PhD, and Program Manager Francesca McLaren, MPH, led an interactive workshop titled “From Lived Experience to Leadership: How Advocates Can Advance Mental Health Task-Sharing.” The session explored the role of advocates and people with lived experience in strengthening community-based mental health systems, while emphasizing the importance of appropriate supports and protections.

Beyond the workshop, CIMH connected with a global network of advocates, researchers, implementers, and policymakers, contributing to cross-regional learning and identifying opportunities for future collaboration.
