Program and Job Description: The Data Coordinator of Relay will support the program and participate in the data quality management of BADUPCT’s nonfatal overdose response system. The program provides 24/7 support to individuals transported to hospital emergency departments (EDs) following a non-fatal overdose. With unprecedented new funding to reduce opioid overdose deaths, this will be a key position in the creation of a nonfatal overdose response system at 15 sites citywide.
Under the supervision of the Relay Data and Evaluation Manager, the Data Coordinator will work collaboratively with program staff and perform the following tasks:
– Participate in the coordination, planning and implementation of the Relay program.
– Support the implementation and execution of the program’s IRB-approved evaluation plan.
– Provide quality assurance of data entry and data management for the program’s participant database, including conducting routine case review and providing feedback to program staff.
– Assist with data requests and reporting to support program implementation, inform policy, troubleshoot issues, and other program needs.
– Provide support to program staff when needed around issues related to data, technology, and the participant database.
– Coordinate staff training activities for the program’s participant database, including developing curriculum, facilitating trainings, and managing logistics of activities.
– Provide technical assistance to program staff on utilizing and interpreting data reports and dashboards.
– Conduct literature reviews.

POSITION: Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) Training Coordinator (Remote)
ORGANIZATION: Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH)
The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager of the grant but will work be supervised by DOHMH. This is a grant-funded position ending in November 2027.
Program Description: Housed in the Division of Epidemiology, the Bureau of Public Health Training and Information Dissemination supports efforts to build public health capacity of the current and future public health workforce by assessing training needs, providing training, resources, and internship opportunities, and evaluating training effectiveness.
Summary of the Position: DOHMH has an opening for a DMI Training Coordinator. Reporting to the Senior Director of the Office of Workforce Development, and, with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, the DMI Training Coordinator will work collaboratively across the agency to coordinate the training and workforce development component of DOHMH’s data modernization initiative for our data science staff.
Specifically, the DMI Training Coordinator will:
Serve as the primary point of contact for DMI-related training and will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist with and conduct literature reviews to determine best practices and inform curriculum design to support data science related workforce development activities for staff.
- Assist with and conduct training needs assessments to understand current and emerging data science related training needs, from survey and questionnaire design through implementation and data analysis
- Assist with the development and implementation of a workforce development plan for data science staff.
- Seek and/or deliver useful and relevant training and professional development opportunities for staff growth and/or to address skills gaps.
- Maintain correspondence with facilitators through the development, delivery, and post-evaluation of the course.
- Assist with the development of training curriculum.
- Coordinate training logistics such as developing course schedules, preparing and disseminating training materials.
- Develop, disseminate, analyze evaluation tools; and prepare summary reports.
- Create and execute a communication strategy which ensures staff are aware of data science related workforce development opportunities.
- Maintain training records and files.
- Communicate data science training needs to Information Technology to ensure adequate software support.
- Maintain high level of current public health knowledge and data science applications, trends, and changes in software/ technology.
- Serve as liaison with internal and external partners as necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
- At least 1 year of previous experience working in fields related to workforce development and training.
- Capacity and willingness to learn about the data science landscape and software tools.
- The ideal candidate for this position must be a pro-active and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in teams and in a highly dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and timelines.

POSITION: Hepatitis/HIV Surveillance Analyst

- The Viral Hepatitis Program conducts surveillance, and develops and implements programs and projects to prevent, manage and treat hepatitis B and C in New York City. The hepatitis/HIV surveillance analyst will oversee hepatitis/HIV surveillance, support investigations and public health data analyses; ensure data quality and completion of hepatitis-related data requests, and share data presentations with internal and external audiences.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
— Support and enhance VHP’s capacity for viral hepatitis B and C surveillance activities.
— Conduct quality assurance on hepatitis surveillance electronic reporting data.
— Monitor and improve the quality of hepatitis B and C data in Maven Database System.
— Use SAS Programs to prepare datasets or fulfill data requests as per schedule or as needed.
— Perform investigations for enhanced surveillance projects or other investigations.
— Create accurate and professional reports of findings for internal and external audiences and co-author articles summarizing findings for publication.
— Support and generate hepatitis/HIV coinfection indicators, dashboards, and analyses.
— Collaborate with HIV staff on ongoing matches and projects, e.g., HIV Care Continuum Dashboards (to monitor population progress towards HCV cure and undetectable HIV outcomes).
— Identify ways to best detect clusters of hepatitis/HIV.
— Develop and contribute to indicators to best measure hepatitis/HIV co-infections.
— Present findings to stakeholders and at internal meetings.
— Participate in viral hepatitis surveillance projects, studies, and analyses, which include HBV/HCV and other syndemic disease analyses
— Develop and/or contribute to written protocols and associated tools, such as interview instruments or chart review forms that capture project data elements and measure desired project outcomes.
— Create accurate and professional reports and presentations of findings for internal and external audiences and co-author articles summarizing findings for publication.
— Plan and manage surveillance projects and analyses, including overseeing staff who are working on the projects.
— Generate summaries to identify trends in hepatitis and HIV/HCV reports.
— Prepare and generate surveillance data for the Annual Report.
— Run monthly SaTScan analysis to identify potential clusters of hepatitis C.
— Work collaboratively with all levels of staff involved in projects as needed.
