POSITION: Research Assistant
ORGANIZATION: New York Academy of Medicine – Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR)
The Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR) at New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) is seeking a research assistant to provide support for research and evaluation projects related to community health and healthcare. The CEAR team is a highly collaborative group that works together to complete a range of mixed-methods projects. We hope to find someone who is collaborative, dedicated, and can grow in this role.
This is a full-time position. Compensation is $55,000.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Outreach and recruitment. Support recruitment of participants for research projects through community outreach.
- Data collection. Assist in the coordination and implementation of data collection activities such as interviews, focus groups and surveys.
- Data analysis. Code qualitative interview and focus group transcripts and create tables to present quantitative data with the support of other CEAR staff, plus other related tasks.
- Project reporting. Collaborate on the preparation of project reports and presentations, including creating power points and updating bibliographies. May also be asked to draft report content as appropriate.
- Project management. Support project manager to implement project activities and manage project components as assigned.
- Administrative support. Provide logistical support including but not limited to scheduling, preparing research materials, and sending and tracking participant incentives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Ability to interact by phone and email with individuals from diverse populations.
- Ability to attend focus groups on occasional weekends and evenings, depending on project needs.
- Strong writing skills.
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet packages). Familiarity with NVivo preferred.
- Knowledge of public health and qualitative research methods preferred. Knowledge of quantitative research methods also desirable.
- Language Skills: Written and spoken English proficiency required. Fluency in Spanish highly desirable.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience, or graduate training in public health or related field.

POSITION: Project Coordinator, Health Equity and Access to Care (HEAC) Project
ORGANIZATION: CUNY Research Foundation – CUNY Center for Immigrant, Refugee and Global Health (CIRGH)
The Health Equity and Access to Care (HEAC) project focuses on individuals’ experiences with healthcare in New York City. It is a multi-year collaboration with the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOH).
The project comprises focus groups and interviews with a diverse sample of New York City residents.
We are looking to hire a Project Coordinator who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the project working closely with the PI (Prof. Diana Romero), the HEAC Project Administrator and Associate Director of the CUNY Center for Immigrant, Refugee and Global Health (CIRGH; Elisabeth Manipoud Figueroa), and several Focus Group Moderators/Project Assistants. The HEAC Project Coordinator will manage multiple aspects of the project, including but not limited to: participant outreach and recruitment; focus group/interview scheduling and coordination; data collection management and preparation for analysis; IRB updates/amendments and renewals; contact with vendors; and overall project coordination (e.g., meetings/minutes, project summaries/updates, project document management, literature review, presentation preparation, etc).
Applicant Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a combination of the following:
- an advanced degree in public health or a related field (or be near completion)
- 2+ years of work experience with research design and implementation
- demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and assignments
- strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- strong verbal and written communication skills

Position Commitment and Compensation
Depending on the candidate’s background skills and experience, the position ultimately offered can range between 28 and 35 hours/week per week. This is a grant-funded position managed through the CUNY Research Foundation with an hourly rate between $30-35 and will include benefits. While some remote work is possible, a weekly in-office work presence is required (specific schedule to be established), as well as occasional travel to different NYC-based recruitment events/venues. POSITION: Senior Health and Safety Specialist

Summary

Responsibilities
- Strategize, direct, lead, own and account for all activities and deliverables of the Safety and Compliance Field Operations division while building strong relationships with MTA, 3rd party, and external agency leadership teams.
- Strategize how and where the Safety and Compliance division executes field site safety audit and quality management inspections throughout all of MTA’s operating environments in conjunction with liaising with agency leadership teams that will aid in identifying challenging and problematic locations. Ensure that the Safety and Compliance division performs field compliance audits to identify and correct deficiencies of non‑compliances while incorporating mitigation measures for any exceptions.
- Develop and ensure that SOPs for all field audits and quality management observations are adhered to. Direct the Safety and Compliance division to ensure that inspections meet the established criteria and are thoroughly vetted for risk and operations hazard reductions.
- Develop corrective actions and risk‑based assessments by way of policies, procedures, and training as the output of all inspections and observations of the division. Ensure that the Safety and Compliance Group tracks the status and implementation of corrective actions to measure and value their effectiveness by way of technology tools including databases, spreadsheets, and document controls.
- Ensure the Safety and Compliance division successfully reviews and comments on design submittals, drawings, site plans, technical specifications, Safety, Health, and Environmental Control Plans (SHECP), Safe Work Plans (SWP), Construction Work Plans (CWP), and Job Task Hazard Analyses (JTHA). Ensure the division favorably coordinates all review processes with other MTA groups by providing unified MTA HQ safety, risk management and quality management comments.
- Ensure the Safety and Compliance division documents all safety incidents, accidents, injuries, and fatalities as accurately as possible. Oversee the Safety and Compliance team and works with the agency liaisons to ensure that any exceptions are thoroughly investigated for cause identification and mitigation. Ensure the Safety and Compliance team enters data for all MTA employee and customer incidents into an internal database.
- Lead and/or participate in safety related meetings (kickoff meetings, progress meetings, design reviews, committee meetings, etc.) by representing MTA HQ as a leadership stakeholder while providing input and monitoring overall safety across our footprint.
- Review all division safety incidents, accidents, injuries, and fatalities to help identify trends. Ensure that any exceptions are thoroughly investigated for cause identification and mitigation. Ensure all data for all MTA employee and customer incidents are properly put into the internal database or data capturing MTA HQ repository.
- Oversee the programmed audits of safety action plans, safety accident prevention programs and various safety initiatives.
- Provide direction and oversight of site inspections and audits for all of MTA’s operations. Engage MTA staff and unions while conducting safety audit checks. Perform programmed audits of Safety Action Plans
- Develop analytical reports including presentations for Senior Staff, Department Heads, and external agencies. Develop and maintain business processes for safety reporting and analysis of data.

- Monitor the transportation industry for risk and quality management reports and findings. Analyze potential MTA vulnerabilities in relation to safety related scopes of work. Develop recommendations from conception to implementation.

Qualifications:

This position requires someone who holds a doctorate in public health or master’s degree in public health with a terminal degree in a closely related field. Candidates should bring an interdisciplinary perspective to public health, demonstrate high-quality and engaged teaching. Candidates should have evidence of a research agenda that is translational to the undergraduate setting and expertise that further augments and expands upon the expertise of the current faculty in the department. This tenure-track appointment will join the department’s interdisciplinary curricular and research efforts that integrate urban and environmental studies and policy. Candidates from a wide variety of disciplines are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to environmental studies, natural resources, energy and resources, environmental sciences, Black studies, Chicanx and Latinx studies, Indigenous studies, geography, sociology, political ecology, political economy,
ethnic studies, and law, and urban planning. The successful candidate will have a research agenda that aligns with the mission of the Wilder School’s Research Institute for Social Equity (RISE). The Institute serves as a vehicle to advance racial equity and social equity through multidisciplinary scholarship, research, training, and engagement. Its goal is to be the national leader in advancing social equity through informing public policy, governance, and practice to improve conditions for marginalized voices within our Society.
Candidates for both positions must be able to teach courses in our core and at least one of our
concentration areas of our Ph.D. Program (Urban Policy, Criminal Justice Policy, Public Administration, or Public Policy). The Healthy Eating Unit seeks a Get the Good Stuff Program Manager to support expansion and implementation of the Get the Good Stuff program. Salary range for this position is between $77,000-83,000.
Get the Good Stuff aims to make fruits and vegetables more affordable for New Yorkers participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by providing a dollar-for-dollar match on SNAP purchases of eligible fruits, vegetables and beans at select independent grocery stores.
The Get the Good Stuff Program Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Nutrition Incentives Portfolio and be a key member of a team of 4-5 people focused on developing and executing innovative approaches to increasing access to healthy food among New Yorkers with low incomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Get the Good Stuff program including recruiting and selecting supermarket partners for program expansion, overseeing supermarket inventory review and training supermarket staff. Manage program implementation at all participating supermarkets and provide ongoing technical assistance with promoting, tracking and monitoring incentive distribution and redemption.
- Manage relationships with participating supermarkets and participating supermarkets point-of-sales (POS) vendors and oversee development and implementation of electronic incentive systems in partnership with POS vendors.
- Manage, with guidance from the Senior Manager, program budgets and grant reporting to external evaluators and grant funders. In coordination with the Fund for Public Health NYC, execute contracts with program partners and monitor contract deliverables, budgets and invoicing.
- Supervise and manage staff who coordinate day-to-day program operations and part-time temporary staff that support program recruitment, implementation and evaluation activities.
- With guidance from the Bureaus research and evaluation team and the Senior Program Manager, plan and implement process and outcome evaluations and support data analysis and reporting.
- Manage Get the Good Stuff promotional activities including developing communication materials, outreaching to internal and external stakeholders and collecting program partner and participant testimonials.
- Serve as a representative of DOHMH in meetings, give presentations and develop written materials as needed.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public policy, nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university. At least three years of professional experience, including two years of experience coordinating nutrition programs.
