If you are interested in supporting leaders in doctoral programs from various disciplines who are committed to achieving health equity, please consider joining our team!

Deputy Director, Health Policy Research Scholars (HPRS)

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) recognizes that the increasing diversity in the country’s population can best be served when research and researchers also reflect that diversity. We need diverse perspectives as our nation identifies key health policy questions and evaluates the impact of proposed policy solutions in our nation. The disproportionate burden of poor health (and the disproportionate exposure to environmental and socioeconomic conditions that lead to poor health) is borne by individuals marginalized because of their race or ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or other factors. That is why increasing the number of doctoral scholars from historically marginalized backgrounds and populations underrepresented in specific doctoral disciplines is an essential step in building a Culture of Health and is a focus of this program.

The Deputy Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the HPRS National Program Center (NPC) and will provide leadership and program coordination and support in accomplishing the program’s goals. This position reports to the Director of the HPRS program. It is grant funded and provides a great opportunity for someone through August 31, 2029.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the HPRS program, including leadership and program coordination in support of accomplishing program goals
  • Liaison with administrative professionals at the Foundation and universities to resolve scholar issues
