Reporting to the Manager, Port Physical Plant, the incumbent is responsible for administering environmental programs and projects necessary to protect the interests of the New Jersey Marine Terminals and assuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. - Manage facility efforts to meet sustainability and energy goals for energy management, GHG management, greening of workplace, utility monitoring and management.
- Manage environmental program areas: under and above ground storage tanks compliance, environmental permit compliance and administration, materials/waste management, surface and ground water pollution control management, air emissions, hazardous materials management, and environmental occupational health issues.
- Represent NJMT on interdepartmental work groups such as underground and aboveground storage tanks, hazardous waste management, sustainability measures, and pandemic health concerns.
- Work with facility staff to identify industry best practices for initial, refresher and on going training for maintenance trades to ensure a sustainable pipeline of skilled personnel to fill critical maintenance positions.
- Management analyses that promote efficiencies and productivity at the facility level including but not limited to: planning, operations, maintenance, equipment and automotive fleet utilization, and research and development of technological solutions to support short and long term NJMT operations and business strategies.
- Assist in preparation of operations reports, oversee tenant leases with environmental components located at New Jersey Marine Terminals.
- Coordinate activities related to hydrographic surveys necessary for maintenance dredging activities and fender repairs in conjunction with the Facility Services unit and Resident Engineer’s Office and serve as facility representative/coordinator for the Environmental Management Systems Program for the New Jersey Marine Terminals.
Qualifications:
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental or natural sciences, maritime transportation, business or related field from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management or related discipline.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a Federal Security Background check and obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) to work in a maritime environment as required by Department of Homeland Security.

The Bureau of Communications, within the NYC Health Department’s Office of External Affairs division, serves as the agency’s in-house publisher; develops public health marketing campaigns and related collateral; provides materials and services in languages for limited-English proficiency New Yorkers; maintains the NYC Health Department’s website and its social media platforms.
The Bureau of Communications plays a key role in the NYC Health Department’s COVID-19 emergency response. Since the beginning of the emergency activation, Communications has led the agency’s public messaging initiatives and has developed vital COVID-19 materials for all New Yorkers. Communications also works with every division and emergency response group to create materials to meet the agency’s goals of protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers and especially those New Yorkers who have been most disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
Within the Bureau of Communications, the Health Media and Marketing group directs the creative development of all of the NYC Health Department’s multi-channel, multilingual media campaigns and coordinates placement of those ads and educational materials across all media platforms, including outdoor advertising, television, streaming video, radio and digital ads in multiple languages.
Job Description:
As part of the NYC Health Department’s continued COVID-19 response, the Marketing team continues to produce new messages on short timeframes to ensure the Health Department is providing New Yorkers the latest information, including changes in policies and guidance.
The Marketing Project Managers oversee the entire lifecycle of media campaigns from creative development, research, production, translation, ensuring accessibility, launch and evaluation of media campaigns.
Duties:
Overseeing development, production and launch of media campaigns across multiple platforms including video, print and digital formats.
Editing media campaign assets for easy comprehension, Health Department style and consistency, and work with other Communications colleagues to translate media assets into languages needed to reach specified audiences.

Summary
The Public Health Alliance of Southern California (Public Health Alliance), a coalition of 10 local health departments in Southern California representing 60% of the State’s population, is seeking a Data Analyst to join our growing Data Team and support the organization’s data needs. The Data Analyst will work closely with the Data Team, Director of Data Initiatives, Executive Director, other Alliance team members, and consultants to implement equity-focused data collection, analysis, and visualization.
This role supports the work of our Healthy Places Index (HPI) project, Cherished Futures (equity in maternal and child health) initiative, and expands our capacity to produce regional data analysis for our member local health departments. The Data Analyst also represents the Public Health Alliance in professional meetings as needed, identifying opportunities for data resource development and collaboration.
The successful applicant will have a strong background in public health data, and is comfortable downloading, formatting, and analyzing a variety of data sets using R and R Studio. They are a creative problem-solver, detail-oriented, and efficient. They also excel in communicating data, and can produce effective descriptions and visualizations for non-technical audiences.
About the Healthy Places Index
The Healthy Places Index (HPI) is a powerful and easy-to-use data and policy platform created to advance health equity through open and accessible data. Evidence-based and peer-reviewed, the HPI supports efforts to prioritize equitable community investments, develop critical programs and policies across the state, and much more. Originally launched in 2018 by the Public Health Alliance, the HPI has become a go-to data tool for hundreds of state and local government agencies, foundations, advocacy groups, hospitals and other organizations that want to apply a health equity lens to their work. The HPI has been adopted widely across California and has been implemented broadly to equitably direct funding to create positive change in our communities, including over $1 billion in funding equitable directed to communities most in need, hundreds of uses across multiple sectors, and nearly $272 million in federal COVID funding prioritized to the most disproportionately impacted communities.
A third update to HPI was released in April 2022, and we continue to make enhancements. We are also in the process of expanding HPI beyond California. We are seeking a candidate with the data skills and expertise to assist us in completing these enhancements and national expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects, cleans, and analyzes national, state, regional, and local data in support of Alliance initiatives, including the development of new indicators for the Healthy Places Index platform.
- Works with Public Health Alliance data sets to produce tables, figures, and visualizations.
- Writes legible, annotated, and reproduceable code for all analyses.
- Prepares technical documentation and reports.
- Builds internal capacity for data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.

The Institute for Families in Society (IFS) in the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) is seeking an Associate Director/Scientist and a Director of Research & Evaluation/Associate Scientist for its Integrated Health and Policy Research Unit (IHPR). This Unit is home to an interdisciplinary team of researchers, policy analysts, biostatisticians, data scientists, and data visualization specialists who conduct research, evaluation, and policy analysis to support health care and delivery system reform, as well as health services, evaluation, maternal and child health, big data analytics, data visualization, and health policy initiatives. IHPR has a 30-year history of working with health care claims specializing in Medicaid, healthcare delivery systems, and health equity. Funded continuously since 1997, this unit is supported through grants and contracts.

Reporting directly to the Director of IHPR, the Associate Director/Scientist will work closely with the Director to oversee the IHPR portfolio of research. The candidate will ensure that the IHPR effectively and efficiently carries out its many functions. This position supports both quantitative and qualitative research and data analytics related to big data (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, health care systems) and other health programs. The primary appointment will be to support and grow the Institute’s Health Services and Policy project portfolio. Director of Research & Evaluation
The Director of Research & Evaluation leads the development and execution of research, evaluation, and technical assistance in the Integrated Health and Policy Research (IHPR) unit of the Institute for Families in Society (IFS). Primary responsibilities are to lead the technical support for IHPR research and evaluation projects. This position will develop and lead projects with state and federal agencies and foundation sponsors, helping to identify research questions; design research methodologies; perform and supervise research; develop research teams; serve as a liaison for IHPR unit with internal and external stakeholders; prepare and present results for academic, policy, practitioner, and public audiences; and provide project management and oversight of contracts, budgets, and multiple research teams.
