Safety Professional
You’ll work out in the field conducting safety inspections in a broad range of industries. You’ll identify hazardous working conditions and ensure compliance with regulations. Industrial Hygienist
You’ll keep Washington’s workforce safe by evaluating and controlling occupational health hazards. The hazards you’ll address include noise, chemicals, blood-borne pathogens and other physical and biological agents. Your ability to maintain composure and sensitivity in challenging situations will be great assets. You’ll prepare and calibrate industrial hygiene sampling equipment, and you’ll make suggestions for abatement and provide materials to assist with compliance. We’re looking for someone with strong research and analytical skills and technical proficiency. Strong communication and organizational skills are also desirable.

POSITION: Program Manager, Faith Sector Community Preparedness Program

Description:
NYDIS is a 501(c)(3) faith-based federation of faith communities, human services providers and charitable organizations who work in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services to New York City. Our mission is to inspire, connect, and provide resources for New York City faith communities serving in disaster to create an urban environment for social justice for all.
Duties include:
- Primary oversight and reporting obligations of the NYC Faith Sector Community Preparedness Program (FSCPP), a 6-year project currently in its third-year programming. The FSCPP is jointly funded by NYDIS and a contract with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (DOHMH-OEPR) and supported by an Advisory Board of prominent NYC faith leaders.
- Support engagement and education for NYC houses of worship and faith-based nonprofits on disaster and public health preparedness and resiliency throughout NYC – emphasizing stakeholder justice and equity.
- Develop and offer disaster lifecycle trainings with print and virtual resources, on topics such as: mental health, spiritual wellness, Pandemic Preparedness, Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP), and Crisis & Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) trainings in support of the NYC faith sector.
- Perform logistical coordination including venue reservations and logistics, registrations, instructor and course coordination, and advertising/outreach for all NYDIS’ monthly classroom and virtual trainings as well as two city-wide conferences held each Fall and Spring.
- Monitor and promote external faith-sector training opportunities of interest to the faith sector
- Manage Fall, Spring & Summer interns, and yearly NYC CivicCorps (AmeriCorps) member
- Assist writing outreach materials, e-flyers, social media to advertise trainings
- Manage NYDIS’ faith sector databases and risk communication tools for emergency communications
- As requested, support the training interests, and needs of NYDIS members and partners
- Participate with senior staff to represent NYDIS at preparedness meetings and resiliency coalitions
- Collaborate with Executive Staff to security conference/training sponsors and secure grant funding
Qualifications include:
- A proven track record in disaster planning and leading preparedness trainings
- Experience in faith-based and community-based organizational outreach
- Operating knowledge of Comparative Religious and functional Religious Literacy & Competency
- A basic understanding of and experience in conducting research – and in writing research reports and grants
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Confident and competent public speaker and trainer
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, in person and on the phone
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, Online form building tools & social media platforms
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (the occasional evening or weekend)
Education requirement:

Description
As a science-driven healthcare analytics company with a rapidly growing customer base, Aetion is looking for experienced epidemiologists, biostatisticians, health economists and other scientists to strengthen our Science team.
The Research Scientist will be an active individual contributor role. A successful candidate will help Aetion deliver results through the use of the Aetion platform.
This individual will become an expert of multiple real-world data sources and develop scientific protocols, scientific validation studies, knowledge base items, and other key materials, as well as participate in the delivery of studies on the Aetion platform. S/he will also help to develop and maintain Aetion’s scientific assets, such as dashboards, study templates and our measure library.
This position will report to the Senior Research Scientist, Scientific Research.
Responsibilities
- Conduct statistical analyses to support the Scientific Research team’s deliverables (e.g. for research collaborations) and research agenda
- Supports external thought-leadership including submission of conference abstracts, co-authorship of manuscripts, participation in other media including newsletters, workshops and webinars, etc., and involvement with professional societies
- Maintains knowledge base in pharmacoepidemiology, HEOR, and/or biostatistical methods as applied to observational RWE studies.
- Supports syntheses and preparation of statistical results for external presentation
- Supports Scientific Engagement/Delivery, Product Science and other teams to satisfactorily meet deadlines and enhance the Aetion Evidence Platform
- Supports and promotes educational activities and knowledge sharing, including development of best practice documents.

Qualifications
Required
- MPH, MS in biostatistics or related quantitative field (e.g. applied mathematics), or MPH, MS in epidemiology, health services research, or health economics with a demonstrated focus on quantitative methods. Or a BS in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a quantitative area within a healthcare or medical products organization
- Knowledge base in the principled application of observational research methods to yield real-world evidence (RWE) for decision-making, designing epidemiological studies and performing advanced statistical analyses relevant to pharmacoepidemiologic, HEOR, and/or expert quantitative areas pertinent to healthcare
- Proficient in R statistical programming language

Description
The Senior Scientist will be an active individual contributor role at Aetion. A successful candidate will help Aetion and our customers deliver results through use of the Aetion Evidence Platform. To do this, the Senior Scientist will work with our customers to train and mentor them on the use of the AEP and to drive the initial use and long-term adoption and growth of the Aetion software platform. This individual will also work on scientific studies (descriptive, comparative, effectiveness, adherence and others) to help our customers create impactful evidence for themselves and participate in high-value, multi-party engagements.
The Senior Scientist will develop data connection specifications, scientific protocols, scientific validation studies, knowledge base items, videos, and other key materials, as well as participate in the delivery of studies on the Aetion platform. The Senior Scientist will also help to develop and maintain Aetion’s scientific assets, such as dashboards, study templates and our measure library.
Responsibilities
The following duties include, but, are not limited to:
- Work with customer scientists to guide them in designing, creating and delivering scientific results using the Aetion platform.
- Work with customers and Aetion teammates to create and implement detailed protocols for scientific use cases and scientific validation studies.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Aetion platform and measurement system and share that understanding with customers and teammates through 1:1 discussion, written communications and/or delivery of training seminars.
- Teach and mentor customers on the use of the Aetion platform in their organization.
- Develop and maintain scientific assets, such as study templates, measures in the Aetion Measure Library and other deployable scientific components.
- Develop and maintain knowledge base articles, documentation and other learning materials, in text and video form.
- Respond to and follow-up on customer requests submitted through the Aetion support system.
- Actively collect customer feedback and ensure information is shared with internal departments.

- Travel may be required (25% or more).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Graduate degree (in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics or a related field) with at least 2+ years of related analytical experience or a PhD with at least 1+ years of related analytical experience.
- Working knowledge of health care datasets including medical and pharmacy claims, EMR/EHR, genomics, registry data or demonstrated experience and facility with other health care data sets.
- Related experience with research methods for epidemiological studies (i.e. prospective cohort study, case control study, confounding control, propensity score methods, multivariate regression).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience client facing and engaging with customers in-person, on the phone and in writing. Or demonstrated experience in external facing roles.

POSITION: Overdose Prevention Coordinator/SUD Program Implementation
ORGANIZATION: NYC DHS Medical Office
The DHS Overdose Prevention Program, in the DHS Office of the Medical Director, aims to prevent overdoses, reduce the impact of substance use and reduce deaths from overdose among DHS clients.
The Office of the Medical Director is recruiting for a temporary research and implementation staff to participate in and co-lead the implementation of the substance use prevention interventions.
Position Description
- Develop and implement surveys, data collection tools, and databases related to substance use disorders (SUD) among DHS clients. Develop and implement the department’s approach to SUD prevention and treatment programs. Collect data, both from clients and staff, using various methods, including focus groups, surveys and data analysis of new or existing data on substance use, overdoses, interventions for and responses to overdoses and make recommendations based on the programmatic research findings.
- Develop, adapt and implement substance use interventions including: (1) a DHS-centered substance use network of care to improve access to MAT and other substance use treatments; and (2) a learning collaborative with DHS medical providers to increase treatment provider capacity. Work with DHS shelters and sites and their medical and behavioral health providers to optimally implement these interventions and provide technical assistance.
- Collect and analyze data on these substance use interventions during implementation to measure and evaluate them, using key informant interviews, focus groups, or surveys and analyzing program data. Review and research overdoses deaths in search for missed opportunities for prevention.
- Collaborate with DOHMH, DHS medical providers, NYC Health and Hospitals and other relevant agencies within the citywide substance use prevention community on implementing the SUD prevention policies and the SUD network.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of opioid overdose issues and prevention guidelines
- Experience in database management, data analysis, interpretation and use of health data for program implementation, management, and evaluation
