CUNY SPH Faculty define role of public health schools in the age of Trump

published an article in the August issue of the American Journal of Public Health entitled, “Defining Roles for Schools and Programs of Public Health in the Age of Trump.” Written by Professors ​Chris Palmedo, Grace Sembajwe, Elizabeth Geltman, Daliah Heller, Lynn Roberts, and Nicholas Freudenberg, the article grew out of a December 2016 Forum at the school on understanding the public health impact of Trump policies. The authors urge that as schools of public health incorporate new competencies identified by the Council on Education for Public Health into their curricula, they reconsider how best to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century, including developing student capacity to document and educate policymakers and the public on the consequences of harmful policy changes and advocate for healthier alternatives.
