SUMMARY:Diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in public health
DESCRIPTION:About the lecture\nCo-sponsored by the CUNY SPH Committee for Equity and Inclusion\, this Grand Rounds lecture featuring Ashley Michelle Fowler will explore the concepts of diversity\, equity\, and inclusion and why it matters in public health. Using the Social Determinants of Health\, we will consider the inequities that impact health within our communities and the role of public health professionals in addressing these barriers. \nAbout the speaker\nAshley Michelle Fowler currently serves as the Administrative Program Manager in the Patricia S. Levinson Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. She is also a PhD student at Pacific University and her research explores the barriers experienced by Black male trainees in medical school. She has over 15 years of experience and education in topics of diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, social justice\, and intercultural communication. Ashley Michelle earned a Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Public Communication with a minor in Community and International Development\, both from the University of Vermont. \nContinuing Education Credits\nContinuing education credit for certified public health professionals (CPH-CE\, 1 hour) may be earned by viewing this webinar.
