SUMMARY:COVIDVu: Applying lessons learned in HIV prevention to an emerging pandemic
DESCRIPTION:Dean’s Virtual Grand Rounds\nDr. Patrick Sullivan\nCharles Howard Candler Professor of Epidemiology\, Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health \nPatrick Sullivan is the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Epidemiology at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health\, the Co-Director of the Prevention Sciences Core at Emory’s Center for AIDS Research (CFAR)\, and a past Member of the US Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS. He served at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an EIS officer from 1994-1996\, and subsequently served in CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention as an Epidemiologist\, a Team Leader and a Branch Chief. In his role as a CDC Branch Chief\, he was responsible for overseeing the development of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System (NHBS)\, the CDC Medical Monitoring Project (MMP)\, and CDC’s initial rollout of point of care HIV rapid tests. Dr. Sullivan’s career has included work on HIV surveillance at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\, HIV vaccine research at NIH-supported HIV Vaccine Trials Network\, and research on HIV prevention for MSM supported by the US NIH and CDC. He is the Editor in Chief of the Annals of Epidemiology\, and has served as a Guest Editor for The Lancet\, Public Health Reports\, The Journal of Infectious Diseases\, and Current Opinion in HIV/AIDS. He is the author of over 400 peer-reviewed publications\, most of which are in infectious diseases with a focus on sexually transmitted infections including HIV\, public health surveillance\, and STI prevention interventions for men who have sex with men. \nThis lecture is hosted by the CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health. \n
