SUMMARY:2025 NYC Mayoral Candidates Virtual Forum: Let’s Talk about Hunger and Food Policy in NYC
DESCRIPTION:Hunger and food insecurity affect millions of New Yorkers every day. In fact\, more than 4.6 million NYC residents—56% of the population—live in or near poverty\, and 1.2 million people in our city are currently struggling with hunger. A coalition of leading hunger and food insecurity organizations is hosting a VIRTUAL candidate forum to hear directly from the individuals running for NYC Mayor this year on this topic. \nWhy you should attend: Whether you’re a community advocate\, nonprofit leader\, concerned resident\, or simply someone who wants to learn more\, this is your opportunity to learn about their plans to address hunger and improve food policies to better support our communities citywide. Join us via Zoom for an engaging and informative discussion\, moderated by Journalist and Spectrum New York 1 Political Anchor Errol Louis\, that will provide insight into the candidates’ proposed solutions for these critical challenges. \nThe forum will take place virtually. Register here for the Zoom link. \nInvited Mayoral Candidates:\n– Adrienne Adams\n– Eric Adams\n– Michael Blake\n– Andrew Cuomo\n– Brad Lander\n– Zohran Mamdani\n– Zellnor Myrie\n– Jessica Ramos\n– Scott Stringer\n– Whitney Tilson\n– James Walden \nThis event is made possible through the collaboration of these incredible organizations dedicated to addressing food insecurity:\n– Chilis on Wheels\n– City Harvest\n– Community Food Advocates\n– Community Service Society\n– Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA)\n– CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute\n– Equity Advocates\n– Feeding New York State\n– Food Bank For New York City\n– Hunger Free America\n– Project Hospitality\n– Swipe Out Hunger\n– United Way of New York City \nWhy This Matters: This will be more than just a forum\, it’s a chance to be informed\, to advocate for better policies\, and to amplify the voices of the millions of New Yorkers struggling with hunger and food insecurity.
