Dr Stimpson is the Chief Academic Officer for the CUNY School of Public Health where he oversees the academic quality of programs and faculty. The mission of the CUNY SPH Office of Academic Affairs is to foster excellence in population health education, to promote innovation in pedagogy, and to serve as a learning resource for the professional growth of population health educators and community stakeholders. Dr Stimpson has held several leadership positions in policy including founding director of the UNMC Center for Health Policy, and a special appointment with the UNMC Vice Chancellor for External Affairs as senior policy analyst for government affairs to work on special projects in policy development at the state and city level. He also serves on the editorial board for Pedagogy in Public Health, a journal dedicated to advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning in public health. The focus of his research as an independent investigator has been health policy analysis and the social determinants of population health.
