Position: Department Coordinator

Organization: The Institute for Family Health

SUMMARY: Provides program and administrative support to the Department of Family

Medicine and Community Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai operated by

the Institute for Family Health.

The Institute for Family Health (IFH) is a non-profit organization committed to providing comprehensive primary health services to disadvantaged communities. In addition to operating 28 health centers in the Bronx, Manhattan and upstate New York, the Institute leads and operates the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Mount Sinai Health System. The Department is responsible for teaching and mentoring in family medicine within the medical school, operating a family medicine inpatient service in the hospital, providing professional development and oversight for affiliated family physicians, overseeing the Institute’s three family medicine residency programs, and conducting research. We are looking for an energetic staff member with good attention to detail to assist in our growing department. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the fields of health and non-profit administration and management. The department coordinator will work with a team of staff, including the Department Chair, the Department Administrator, and the Director of Inpatient Services. This is a full-time position located at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department Coordinator will work independently on a variety of activities, including:

  1. Serve as a liaison with other Mount Sinai departments and services;
  1. Manage departmental faculty appointments and hospital privileges;
  1. Coordinate events, include Grand Rounds lectures, special events, and related medical student activities;
  1. Assist with departmental communications, including maintenance of the department website;
  1. Schedule and prepare documents for meetings;
  1. Provide general office support and administrative support for the inpatient service.

 

The Department Coordinator will also support the Department staff on an ad-hoc basis. S/he will be asked to:

  1. Proofread and correct documents such as letters and reports;
  1. Write cover letters and other short documents;
  1. Assist with internet research and literature reviews;
  1. Manage phone lines, mail, and record keeping;
  1. Complete other tasks, as needed.

Position: Project Manager, QMP

 SUMMARY: The Project Manager is responsible for the planning and successful implementation of multifaceted research and government/nongovernment contract and projects in YNHH Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). Develops project management timelines, resource needs, standard procedures, protocols, training documents and quality control systems to ensure adherence to scientific methods /protocols, regulatory and contract requirements, and production of high quality deliverables on time to meet sponsor needs. Researches, analyzes and compiles information, composes high quality status reports, technical reports and publications. RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Project Management: Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the project aims, methods and scope of work. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities. Manages day -to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client. Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.   • Regulatory Adherence: Ensures adherence to regulations established by sponsors including federal agencies (e.g. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Institutes of Health), Yale New Haven Hospital/Health, Yale University and other agencies. Ensures compliance with data use agreements, conflict of interest and invoicing/reporting requirements.
  • Writing and Analysis: Prepares (takes lead in drafting and finalizing) documents (progress reports, final deliverables) for sponsors and other agencies. Develops templates, procedures and training to ensure high quality, standardized project deliverables. Manages new proposal development and writes /edits substantive sections. Contribute to manuscript development including editing and proofing. Conducts research and analysis, summarizes results, compiles reports and presents to customer.
  • Client/Sponsor Management: Manages day-to-day client interaction. Sets and manages client expectations.   • Education: Master’s degree, preferably in public health, business administration or related healthcare field

Position: Senior Project Manager, QMP

SUMMARY: The Senior Project Manager has the responsibility for managing CORE government and nongovernment contracts and grants. This high-level position requires substantive knowledge and experience directing health services research, quality measurement development or related work in healthcare. Incumbent will ensure that all project activities are carried out according to project timelines, that deliverables are met and that resources are within the established budget. In addition, this individual will have a clear understanding of the overall grant and contract, and will effectively communicate the project/contract status to CORE administrative staff and funding agency. Incumbent will possess a clear understanding of the management of CORE federal and non -federal contracts including technical and business contractual requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In conjunction with Principal Investigator and Project Director, develops project management plan and timeline to ensure the successful and timely completion of contract deliverables.
  • Oversees the planning of the project; establishing goals and objectives; training requirements; productivity goals and financial parameters.
  • Manages the logistics of the project through clear communication of roles and responsibilities of team members to promote the successful working of cross-functional teams.
  • Effectively communicates project status with internal and external stakeholders and anticipates problems and proposes solutions to complete tasks and troubleshoot difficulties.

  • Writes periodic reports to the funding agencies and participates in preparation of manuscripts and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education: Master’s Degree in public health, nursing, healthcare management/administration, business administration (MPH, MHA, MBA) or related field. Project Management Professional Certification Preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum three (3) years’ experience in a research capacity and a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial/project management capacity or related experience indicating ability to communicate with people, to work with minimal supervision, to conduct and coordinate research studies, to prepare for and conduct team /staff meetings, to work with a variety of computer software programs, and to be receptive to variety of duties to support projects and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Position: Research Scientist, QMP

 SUMMARY: The Research Scientist, Quality Measurement Programs (QMP) leads in the development, maintenance, and implementation of national health care quality measures and advances measurement methods. Reporting to the Director, QMP, the primary role is to serve as Technical Lead for specific deliverables for a large Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) funded multi-year contract developing and maintaining hospital quality measures for national public reporting and tracking quality trends. Provides technical leadership and content expertise for the development of deliverables under the guidance of the Director, QMP working with a diverse team of consultants, statisticians, clinicians, health services researchers, and project support staff to meet contract deliverables.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead team decision-making, ensuring that analytic decisions are made collaboratively with lead analyst; present key methodological decisions to directors/team; ensure communication with subtask on decisions (with timely accurate minutes, etc.).
  • Ensure timely completion of high quality task deliverables (e.g. literature reviews, technical reports, measure forms, communications materials, and papers).
  • Review and sign off on task management plan (timelines with interim deadlines).
  • Manages resources to budget for assigned contract tasks.
  • Track progress and make adjustments to plan, seeking assistance from Director, QMP, when needed.
  • Problem solve methodological/team/process issues that arise with directors and statisticians.
  • Recruit and liaise with external experts for special consultation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education: Graduate degree required; MD or PhD required. Formal training in health services research methods also required.
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years’ experience in health care quality field required. Clinical experience strongly Excellent writing skills as evidenced through peer-reviewed publications required. Excellent verbal communication skills. Demonstrated mastery of epidemiology and excellent analytical skills. Experience managing professional staff strongly preferred. Teaching experience desired. Demonstrated experience collaborating with other government contractors or independent non-government agencies that support outcomes measure work.

Position: Statistician I

Position: Statistician II

Position: Arab Health Initiative Coordinator
