Position:  Graduate Research Assistant

SUMMARY: Seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to work on several research studies investigating the social determinants of cardiovascular risk factors in racially/ ethnically diverse populations. The Graduate Research Assistant will be an integral member of the Principal Investigator’s research team and will be expected to work collaboratively with fellow students and other faculty to assess and disseminate study results.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Graduate Research Assistant’s duties will consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Conducting literature reviews on topics relevant to research projects.
  2. Preparing and managing data for analysis (e.g., importing data, cleaning data, merging files, etc.).
  3. Conducting statistical analyses in SAS using a range of multivariate regression models, including linear, logistic, log-binomial models.
  4. Familiarity with analysis of complex probability samples and multi-level data a plus.
  5. Summarizing study results and preparing tables for presentation in publication format.
  6. Assisting with the submission of manuscripts, with possibility of co-authorship.
  7. Supporting the submission and management of IRB applications.
  8. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proficiency in SAS required; experience with SUDAAN or SAS Survey procedures a plus
  2. Interest in health equity research.
  3. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  4. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work cooperatively with fellow students, faculty and external researchers.

 

Hours/Duration: $25-$30/ hour (depending on experience) for 10 hours per week.

The Research Assistant will be an integral member of the Principal Investigator’s research team and will assist with the design, implementation and evaluation of projects

  2. Interest in health equity research.
  3. Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully in diverse community settings.
  4. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work on academic-community research teams.
  7. Ability to communicate in Spanish for community-based initiatives, preferred.
